There are a few things that happened at Marc + Kaly’s Beaver Ranch Wedding that you would totally never expect to occur during a day when two people say I do. For example, in the middle of their ceremony, while saying their vows, a literal tree fell over in the forest about 30 feet away from where everyone was gathered. During the many weddings I’ve photographed as a Colorado wedding photographer, a tree falling in the forest was a first. You know that age old question “if a tree falls in a forest, do you hear it?” Well I’m hear to tell you, ABSOFREEKINLUTELY you hear it! And when that tree fell it was loud and gave everyone a startle.
But that moment with the tree falling that so unexpectedly occurred was exactly how Kaly and Marc envisioned their wedding: hidden away in the woods completely in their element. And when a deer decided to walk through the same wooded area shortly after they were announced Mr. and Mrs. Perreault, it just put the icing on the cake for being the perfect location for these two mountain lovers. Marc and Kaly will always choose to spend their weekend hiking, biking, climbing, skiing and planning their next travel adventure.
Just like Marc and Kaly put so much thought and consideration into their wedding location at Beaver Ranch, they were also intentional about all the details at their wedding. Like the triangle, boho altar they got married under was hand made by both Kaly and Marc’s dads. Oh, and the beer that the best man toasted with when giving his speech? That was home brewed by both their dads as well.
Marc and Kaly’s belief in living life to the fullest and giving purpose to everything made their way into their centerpieces as well. They potted all different types of herbs and added little signs with the plant’s meaning (for example mint is for warmth and hospitality) and encouraged their guests to take a potted plant home with them to love and grow and bring that plant’s meaning into their home. Every part of this wedding was full of love, laughter and warmth.
Holy moly, it’s hard to put into words what it meant to be a part of Marc and Kaly’s day. If you get the chance to hang out with these two country dance lovin’, Harry Potter geekin’, living in the moment people, you will understand what I mean. Kaly’s kindness, huge smile and down for anything attitude makes any person feel welcome. And Marc’s warm spirit, unending optimism and fun-having personality brightens up your day. It’s no wonder these two human beings who are independently wonderful as separate people, deserved a huge celebration for becoming one.
There’s no doubt in my mind that Kaly and Marc are going to live the kind of marriage that is intentional. Intentional with always “dating” each other. Intentional with always encouraging each other. And intentional with putting in the work to make calling each other husband and wife something they are very proud of.
Kaly and Marc, I’m going to say it again because once wasn’t enough, but it meant the WORLD to be your wedding photographer. I’m so excited for your journey your on to continue. And I can’t wait to go do some country dancing with you! Congratulations!
