Seth + Amanda | Blackstone Rivers Ranch Wedding
Posted On | February 6, 2019
Seth and Amanda’s Blackstone Rivers Ranch wedding in Idaho Springs was an intimate day surrounded by only their closest family and friends. As I sat down with Amanda and Seth over a beer at the beginning of 2018, I wanted to know exactly how they envisioned their wedding day.
They had a vision that wasn’t overdone or traditional. It wasn’t anything fancy or big. No, Seth and Amanda envisioned a care-free day with their closest family and friends. One where they didn’t have to stress about walking around and getting to say hi to each of their guests for 20 second each. No, they wanted a day to celebrate alongside the people that mean the most to them.
They wanted to get married in a space that spoke to them. One that celebrated their love of getting lost in the mountains and exploring together with their two dogs, Lily and Coda. They dreamed of an intimate Colorado wedding venue that felt natural and was close enough to Denver for friends and family to make the drive. They found the perfect place to say their I do’s beneath towering lodge pole pines with the soft hum of the Chicago Creek in the background. With lost-in-the-forest vibes and dancing aspen trees, Blackstone Rivers Ranch was the perfect place for Seth and Amanda’s intimate wedding.
One of my favorite moments of their wedding day was exchanging personal letters they had written to each other. Seth and Amanda knew it would be hard to express their love for each other during the ceremony in front of their close friends and family, but they still wanted to put into words what it meant to dedicate themselves to each other on that Thursday afternoon. So they each passed off a handwritten letter to share before they walked down the aisle. Amanda’s tears and Seth’s smile said it all: they needed no one else in the world but each other.
Amanda walked across a small bridge over the creek and sneaked up behind Seth for their first look. If there was ever a first look to see the pictures of, Seth and Amanda’s is it! Tears. Laughter. Hugs. A million kisses. More tears. Smiles as big as the sky. Their first look had it all.
Amanda and Seth chose to get married at Blackstone Rivers Ranch beneath the grove of pine trees. Amanda’s dad officiated the ceremony and was able to bring so much love and personalization into every word. Amanda’s adorable niece who could not even walk yet was the flower girl and their siblings and a few family members traveled from out of state to witness this exact moment.
They cut their cake, toasted with their friends and family and enjoyed some dancing to their custom playlist under the white tent lined on one side by green glimmering aspen trees. At the end of the night Seth and Amanda headed back to the big AirBnB that they rented with their whole family to continue the celebration.
Seth and Amanda, thank you a million times for allowing me to be the one to capture your day, to witness the little moments and to give back to you photographs so you can look back on this day with your great grand babies. I am so thankful you two came into my life last year!

These are a wonderful set of photographs. Individually they are lovely but, more importantly for me, I really like the way they work as a series to tell the story of their day at the ranch. Very well done!
