Nothing makes my heart sing more than receiving an inquiry from a Texas bride dreaming of a gorgeous Rocky Mountain engagement session in Boulder, Colorado. Crystal + Thomas have been together for two years and love traveling and exploring new frontiers together. From trips to the beaches of Thailand to New York, they just love being on the go holding each other’s hands. Although they have traveled to many amazing places, their favorite scenery is Colorado’s mountain peaks and the crisp Rocky Mountain air. They have traveled to Colorado many times and have fallen so head over heels for this state that they want to move to Colorado as soon as Crystal finishes school. The bride and groom are planning a small, intimate mountain wedding ceremony next July near Breckenridge, CO, to start their new life together as hubby and wife.

What’s even better than this amazing couple traveling out to Colorado for their engagement session? The fact that we have so many similarities. Crystal is in school studying photography and currently photographs beach-side weddings on the coast of Texas. Thomas is in the wedding industry as well as a DJ. One day they hope to combine their two loves into a company in which they can serve brides and grooms together and work alongside each other at weddings. We all have an equal love for the mountains – thank god, because I asked Crystal and Thomas to climb on top of some pretty perilous rocks and near some steep cliff edges – and they did it like champs.

Colorado’s mountains are full of amazing scenery and my favorite settings to photograph in are open fields with waist-high grass and views of mountain peaks in the background. The other mountain setting that screams Colorado is one on top of a mountain peak in which you can see miles and miles of snow-capped peaks that give you a rush of being on top of the world. To combine these two loves, Crystal and Thomas met me at South Mesa Trailhead in Eldorado Springs and then we headed up Flagstaff Mountain outside Boulder, CO to Lost Gulch Lookout. I think the pictures speak for themselves about why I chose these locations.

With the sense of being lost in the mountains where no one could find you, Crystal and Thomas were not afraid to show their deep love for each other. They posed as if they knew exactly what to do and were amazing at taking direction but tweaking every pose to resemble their unique relationship. I loved their ability to laugh with one another, Thomas’ soft kisses on Crystal’s forehead and Crystal’s never ceasing smile as she gazed at Thomas. Friends, this engagement session is the real deal. It’s full of two people that changed each other’s lives for the better. It’s full of raw emotions and excitement for what’s ahead. And it is by far one of my favorite engagement sessions to date. Enjoy!
