My favorite moments from Anna + Tyler’s wedding in Boulder, Colorado:
– Tyler and Anna’s son, Harvey, sleeping through the entire ceremony
– The moment Tyler and Anna took to themselves during the ceremony
– Sunset pictures in a wild sunflower patch
– The stunning garden flowers used in Anna’s bouquet and flower details
– The gorgeous detail on the back of Anna’s wedding dress
When I arrived at Anna and Tyler’s wedding that warm Saturday afternoon, I saw endless views of the Rocky Mountains, a blue-bird sky and a field of wild sunflowers just begging to have pictures taken within them (which we of course had to do!).
Tyler is a high school friend of mine. I still remember the days of speeding to Chipotle, scarfing down lunch and speeding back just to barely make it to 5th period on time. We were a tight knit group of friends that did everything together. He was a part of the group that introduced me to my now-husband. When I got an email from Anna inquiring about photography for their wedding I didn’t skip a single beat to say yes to them. The best part is that I felt like I was instant friends with Anna as well even though I had never met her.
Anna and Tyler decided to say their “I Do’s” on the grounds of the same church where Tyler’s parents got married. It is the church he grew up in and Anna’s uncle is currently the pastor there. When I arrived to the church where Tyler and Anna were hosting their outdoor wedding, I knew I had to figure out a way to get to the wild sunflowers on the other side of the fence. After talking to Tyler’s mom and confirming that Anna loved the sunflowers as well, we scoped it out and found a secret gate that we could get into the field from for sunset pictures after the ceremony.
Anna’s favorite detail of the day was the heart sewn to the inside of her wedding dress. A blue heart from her dad’s shirt and a lace heart from her mom’s wedding dress – both whom had passed before they got the opportunity to watch Anna walk down the aisle. Her brother, dressed in his Blues, proudly walked Anna down the aisle instead and invited her to dance during the reception.
One of my favorite moments during Anna and Tyler’s wedding ceremony was when they took about a minute in the middle of the ceremony, turned away from the crowd, and just enjoyed a few moments to just themselves before they continued. It was a tradition I had never seen before, but thought was so sweet and intimate.
The night continued after the ceremony in a white tent overlooking the front range. With the sun setting over the mountains, and hues of pink and purple in the background, Tyler and Anna danced to their first song together under twinkling lights. Full of close family and friends, laughter from reminiscing on past stories and a love that permeated your heart, these two couldn’t have asked for a more perfect wedding day.
