Telluride Elopement | Ruby + Blake

Telluride is one of our favorite places in Colorado to explore for an elopement, especially in the fall! There are gorgeous alpine lakes, dramatic mountain vistas, waterfalls, rivers, and so many different shades of green, yellow, and orange aspen leaves.

It was for all of these reasons and more that Ruby and Blake decided that a Telluride elopement was a perfect representation of their relationship.

The day before their wedding, the forecast called for scattered showers. Not ones to fear a little rain, we rearranged their timeline a bit to hopefully have their ceremony during a dry patch, and then crossed our fingers for the best.

Let me tell you, while we ended up seeing rain and sun and snow and fog and sleet, every single second of their wedding day was pure magic!

Rube and Blake took their time getting ready at their rental home with their families before sharing an emotional first look. After we all wiped our tears, we caravaned to a lake where they finally shared their vows surrounded by their pup and loved ones right as the sun decided to make an appearance.

We spent some time exploring before hopping in their jeep and driving up a 4×4 trail to a ghost town and a second alpine lake. As Ruby and Blake threw a line in and enjoyed a picnic, a curtain of fog slowly descended, covering the mountains in the most romantic mist.

As snow began to fall, we drove into town and hitched a ride on the Telluride gondola up to the very top to explore for a bit. We were able to take in some incredible views and the clouds began filling in the valley, eventually making their way up to us and wrapping us in fog once more.

We ended the evening back at their rental sharing pizza, homemade cake, and a sparkler-lit first dance. Just as we were wrapping up an incredible day, the clouds decided to part one final time, allowing us to stargaze for a bit!

Blake and Ruby’s Telluride elopement was such a great testament to why I love intimate weddings so much – you get to spend the day doing exactly what you, with who you want, creating meaningful memories along the way.
