Jessica and Eric’s Lost Gulch Lookout engagement session in Boulder, CO is one for the books!

Stop what you are doing right now! You have got to see this stunning, spring mountain-top engagement session. It is filled with pretty floral patterns, stunning views of the Rocky Mountains and two people so genuinely in love.

When Jessica, the bride-to-be, and I started talking about engagement photography, I already had an awesome vision in my mind for what I wanted to create with these photos. Luckily, Jessica and her fiance, Eric, were all game for a little bit of hiking and climbing up rocks outside of Boulder, CO up Flagstaff Mountain. We first stopped at a little pull-out about halfway up Flagstaff Mountain. The fun part about why I knew this pull-out, was that in high school when Ben and I were first dating, we would come up to this spot, hike a little ways with Illegal Pete’s burritos in hand, climb up to the top of a rock that had a perfect divot for snuggling up, watch the sunset over Boulder, and have a little pick nick up there. It was a perfect setting for Jessica and Eric to warm up to the camera and get some gorgeous shots overlooking Boulder with iconic red rocks in the background.

We then headed further up Flagstaff Mountain for some more picturesque mountain-top engagement pictures. I had already picked out a location based on my husband’s experience and google maps, but when we tried to take the right hand turn it required, we were stopped by a barricade across the road (waah, waah, waahhh!). So, I put on my “flexibility hat” and suggested that we just keep driving and there has to be a gorgeous overlook that we can find, right?! Eric was awesome and suggested a lookout up the road that he used to go to in high school. So we headed up the road and the outlook he suggested ended up being Lost Gulch Overlook – and it was gorgeous! (How have I not heard of this place before?!)

To say the least, it was the perfect backdrop for some sweet, wooded pictures as well as views that screamed Colorado at the top of its lungs. I was so thankful for this sweet couple’s flexibility and sense of adventure – I mean, come on, Jessica was hiking around in a floor length dress (which was stinkin’ gorgeous by the way) and heeled boots. I’m wishing this beautiful couple a so much luck with their Mexico wedding this coming summer and I will definitely be having a margarita to celebrate them! Enjoy!
