Mohawk Lakes Proposal | Breckenridge, CO

Forrest thought up a dream proposal for Jenn at Mohawk Lakes near Breckenridge, CO. As their first long hike together here in Colorado after getting together, it had so much meaning to the two of them. As a Breckenridge Colorado couples photographer, we schemed up a sunrise hiking proposal at the base of Lower Mohawk Lake that worked out perfectly.

Since I frequently backpack and hike at Mohawk Lakes, I was able to hike up early before they got there, get all set up, hide behind a rock, and patiently wait for Forrest and Jenn to arrive. I left them a trail of markers so Forrest knew exactly where to stand for perfect pictures of him down on one knee asking Jenn to marry him. After the proposal, I popped out of the rock, and we took a few more sweet pictures together with their pup, Aspen, to remember this day.

Jenn and Forrest both grew up on the east side of Michigan, but didn’t meet until they both moved to Colorado Springs last year. Forrest first laid his eyes on Jenn while getting drinks with friends on St. Patty’s Day and he immediately felt like he had “met his other half”.

From moving in together to deciding to get their dog, Aspen, these two went through all the big steps together and came out stronger every time. I love the way Forrest told me how “[Jenn] always tells me that I’m her “person” and I feel the same about her and I couldn’t imagine spending my life with anyone else.”

When Forrest isn’t serving as an Army Officer and Jenn isn’t helping kids as a Speech and Language Pathologist, these two are typically heading off on an adventure. From skiing to hiking, and flyfishing to trying new breweries Forrest and Jenn love being outdoors and active. (They even are hot yoga fanatics like me!)

I couldn’t have been more thankful Forrest asked me to be the one to hike up to this gorgeous location and capture such an important day in their life. Congrats you two – I can’t wait to see where this next part of your journey will take you!
