Lindsay had the idea to head down to southern Colorado to the Paint Mines. I had never been there, but HOLY MOLY, can someone please elope here!?!??! It’s freakin’ gorgeous!!!!⁠

But in all seriousness, knowing my best friend and getting to see her fall in love and friendship with Ty has been amazing! There’s not a soul who, after seeing these two together, would deny that their paths were destined to cross.⁠ And a Paint Mines engagement session was the perfect way to celebrate these two!

The Paint Mines Interpretive Park is located in El Paso County, just 45 minutes north-east of Colorado Springs. It is open from dawn to dusk and because you walk through it’s canyon-like walls, there is more flexibility for timing of your engagement photos here.

It can get busy on the weekends during the summer, so we highly suggest planning your Paint Mines engagement photos on a weekday or during the slower months (November – April).

Be sure to respect the natural beauty and do not climb on any of the rock formations – this allows this unique location to be enjoyed for centuries to come. Disrespecting this rule can also result in harsher rules and possibly banning of future engagement photos being allowed on these grounds.

The park is free to enter, however, your Paint Mines engagement photographer will need to apply for a commercial photography permit ahead of time and keep it on-hand during your engagement session.
