Red Rocks Elopement | Liz + Jonathan

Liz and Jonathan got engaged several years ago. At the time, they knew that they wanted to elope so reached out to some photographers then – but none felt like the right fit.

Then, a few months before their wedding, Liz and Jonathan sent us an inquiry. We jumped on a video chat and they shared with me about their love for live music. About how Jonathan planned the proposal around a weekend of concerts with one of their favorite musicians. And how they always envisioned photos with the red rocks in the background on their elopement day.

Because this area is so close to home and I’ve explored it a ton, I was so excited to share an area with a couple that was near and dear to both our hearts.

The day before, the mountains saw a dusting of snow, but we were surprised to still see a splattering of snow in the foothills. The muddy trails and cooler temperatures meant that Liz and Jonathan had total and complete privacy for their mountaintop ceremony.

After sharing their vows, cheering with some Bailey’s shooters, and swinging to their first dance on the rocky path, we headed to a nearby trailhead to capture some epic shots with Red Rocks Amphitheater in the background. Liz and Jonathan shared a homemade charcuterie board, popped champagne and we explored with lanterns as the sun gave way to the night sky.

The day was sweet. It was fun. And it truly celebrated who these two are at their core.
