This Snodgrass Trailhead Elopement Had the Most Breathtaking Wildflowers | Kayla & Tori

Posted On | July 18, 2024

Some weddings feel like pure magic, and this sunrise Snodgrass Trailhead elopement was nothing short of enchanting. Kayla and Tori’s elopement wasn’t just about saying vows—it was about creating a day that felt completely, unapologetically them. They didn’t picture themselves in a ballroom or navigating a guest list. Instead, they saw a morning filled with stars, wildflowers, and the crisp mountain air in Crested Butte, CO. Just the two of them, completely present, with time standing still around them.

A Midnight Start

The day started long before the sun even considered rising – at midnight to be precise. At 2:15 a.m., I arrived to capture those quiet, anticipatory moments—Kayla and Tori getting ready in the soft glow of their cabin with A Vow to Artistry, writing their intimate vows into their carefully selected vow books, and exchanging gifts. There was no rush, no rigid timeline to follow, just an easy flow of emotion and excitement. While the sun was still hidden, hair and makeup were complete, and they slipped into their dresses, helping each other with those final details before stepping outside into the dark, star-filled sky.

We arrived at the Snodgrass Trailhead under a sky still speckled with stars and captured the beauty of the night around them. They stood together, wrapped in the quiet of the early morning, the world still asleep as they soaked in the significance of what they were about to do. Hiking less than a mile along Teddy’s Trail Kayla and Tori spontaneously chose their perfect ceremony spot. The anticipation built as blue hour settled in, painting the landscape in dreamy hues, the mountains standing like silent witnesses to their love.

And then, as the first hints of light crept over the peaks, it was time. Kayla and Tori stood hand in hand, their voices steady but full of emotion as they spoke the vows they had carefully written. There was no audience, no distractions—just the two of them, promising forever in the stillness of the mountains. After sealing their vows with rings and a kiss, they swayed together in a slow, intimate first dance, the alpenglow casting a soft warmth over everything.

By 6 am., the sun had fully risen, bathing Teddy’s Trail in golden light, and we spent time exploring the area, capturing the joy and ease of two women who had just begun their next chapter. There was no rush to move on, no pressure to be anywhere but exactly where they were.

No Schedule, No Obligation Adventure

After exploring the sea of wildflowers, we set off toward Emerald Lake, a scenic drive up Gothic Road with plenty of stops along the way to take in the unreal beauty surrounding us. Once we arrived, the crystal clear water reflecting the lush green shoreline and flowers in a kaleidoscope of color. Kayla and Tori wandered through the landscape, holding hands, laughing, soaking in every second.

Kayla and Tori prioritized time just to hang out on their elopement day. They envisioned a perfect summer day where time slows down. A picnic beside the glassy water of Emerald Lake gave them space to just be together—reading, talking, playing cards, and reveling in the quiet joy of the day. No strict schedules, no obligations, just them, exactly as they are.

Kayla and Tori’s Snodgrass Trailhead elopement was everything they had hoped for—a day where they could be fully present with each other, surrounded by nature’s quiet beauty. Their story started with dinner, grew through adventures, and solidified through distance, but on this morning, in the stillness of the mountains, it became something even deeper. A promise. A beginning. A love story still unfolding.
