bride and groom in front of blossoming tree at their spring The Barn at Raccoon Creek wedding

Kayla + Nicholas’ The Barn at Raccoon Creek wedding was just about the most fun I’ve ever had at a wedding. By the end of the night not one person was sitting in their chair and this Colorado wedding photographer was on the dance floor dancing with their awesome family!

Kayla and Nicholas met in high school which means they have grown up together, shared dreams together and chased goals together. As a Colorado wedding photographer who is also married to my high school sweetheart, I know that going through all the big life transitions after you graduate is the biggest test for a relationship. You mature together and begin to uncover who you really are deep down. Kayla and Nicholas proved that through all those transformative years, they still chose each other. And this past Saturday at their wedding at the Barn at Raccoon Creek, they made a vow to choose each other over and over again for the rest of their life.

With a threat of rain in the air earlier in the day I prayed that it would stay away for their ceremony. The Colorado spring day was beautiful: warmth from the sun, crispness from the breeze and blooming trees that gave off a hint of sweetness.

As Kayla stepped out of the room in her lace mermaid wedding dress, her closest friends and family wiped tears from their eyes and gasped with happiness for what was to come later that day. And because there wasn’t one moment that Kayla’s warm smile didn’t shine, I knew she felt the same.

As Nicholas put on his tux and cracked jokes with his guys, his calm demeanor showed he was ready to become a husband. Ready to take care of Kayla through thick and thin. And ready to put her first.

From the moment Kayla held her dad’s arm and started the walk down the aisle towards Nicholas, the rest of the day proved that these two were 110% made for each other: sweet and simple vows during their ceremony, taking in their first moments as husband and wife while looking out over the 17th hole at sunset, laughing and crying during the toasts, and dancing the night away.

In the bride’s own words about their favorite part of the day…

“The best part of our day was watching our families and friends come together for us. It was so special seeing everyone together. We felt so much love that day!”

Kayla + Nicholas, your journey is so special and so unique and I know there is so much more left to be told. But thank you for inviting me into the best day of your life, it was an honor, and so much fun, to be your photographer!
