When Luxury Meets Adventure | Nic & Mariel

Nic and Mariel’s luxury wildflower elopement in Crested Butte, captured on both digital and 35mm film, was everything we love about intimate weddings—breathtaking landscapes, deep personal connections, and a celebration that felt effortlessly them.

The day started slow and intentional at their cozy Airbnb, with the finishing touches of hair and makeup, steaming cups of coffee sipped on the deck, and an impromptu PB&J assembly line. There’s something about simple rituals that make a day feel more grounded. Once they were dressed, Nic and Mariel shared a first look that was nothing short of magic, the anticipation giving way to pure joy.

From there, we took a rugged 4×4 trail into the backcountry, winding our way toward a hidden wildflower field. The hike was more than just a journey—it was a chance to pause, to breathe in the mountain air, and to take in the surreal beauty surrounding them. Nic and Mariel read letters from loved ones, their words carried by the breeze, before settling into a picnic among the blooms, their PB&Js never tasting better.

Later in the afternoon, we met up with their closest family on a stunning mountain pass for the ceremony. Mariel walked down the aisle with the peaks towering around her, and in a moment that felt both intimate and infinite, they exchanged vows and rings. A glass was stomped, Nic got iced in the best way possible, and cheers erupted as champagne bottles popped.

With the paperwork signed, we headed to the house for a laid-back happy hour, complete with drinks, a gorgeous charcuterie spread, and a little friendly competition at the cornhole boards. As the sun dipped lower, we made our way to The Sunflower for a warm and inviting dinner reception. Live music set the tone for an evening full of connection—first dances, parent dances, heartfelt toasts, and a cake cutting that felt like the sweetest exclamation point to the day.

Nic and Mariel’s elopement was proof that luxury isn’t about excess—it’s about intention. Every part of their day was crafted to reflect their love, their people, and the kind of joy that lingers long after the last song fades. Crested Butte showed off, but Nic and Mariel were the ones who made it unforgettable.
