How Much Does it Cost to Get Married at Windy Point?

Prices range from $268 for the Forest Loop to $323 per night for the Lake Loop. There is a two-night minimum for reservations that include a Friday or Saturday night, and a three-night minimum for nights that include Federal holidays.
Windy Point Group Campground can be reserved online up to a year in advance. The campground is closed during the winter but can be reserved from mid-May through the end of September.
Insider Tip:
Since reservations don’t begin until 2:00pm, we recommend reserving the night before your wedding as well if you will need time to set up.
The Lake Loop Vs. Forest Loop
The Lake Loop Pavilion
The Lake Loop is handicapped accessible and includes access to both the lakeshore and the covered pavilion. It can officially accommodate up to 100 people (although we recommend sticking to 50 or under) with parking for 30 vehicles.
Ceremonies are allowed on the lakeshore. However, the shoreline can be limited in early to mid-summer as snowmelt makes its way into the reservoir.
There are picnic tables under the pavilion that can be used for a reception, as well as charcoal grills and firepits. Please be sure to check current fire restrictions before lighting anything!
There are a few important things to note about the Lake Loop. There are no electric outlets available at the pavilion. If you plan on needing electricity, you will need to bring a generator. Vault toilets are available for use. While fishing, boats, and paddleboards are allowed on the lake and shore, swimming is not allowed. The cove is not private, so you may occasionally have boats coming in and out.
The Forest Loop
The Forest Loop contains access to a beautiful spot overlooking Lake Dillon and the surrounding mountains. This area can officially accommodate up to 100 people (although we recommend sticking to 50 or under) with parking for 30 vehicles.
It requires a 5 to 10 minute walk from the parking area. The path to get there is all dirt and has a small but consistent incline, so it might not be the best option for anyone with mobility issues.
Near the parking area are vault toilets and several fire rings available for use.
You are allowed to bring in chairs or benches for your ceremony, as no seating is provided. Many couples opt to have their guests stand, which is also a great option for smaller ceremonies.
Insider Tip:
For maximum privacy, we recommend reserving both loops for your wedding day. This will allow you to hold your ceremony at the Forest Loop and your reception at the Pavilion on the Lake Loop if you would like.
How to Plan a Camp Wedding

Plan for a Weekday Wedding
Windy Point is a popular spot for weddings, events, and group camping. Weekend and holiday reservations tend to go fast. For the highest likelihood of snagging a reservation, we recommend considering a weekday wedding!
PRepare for Nature
Consider setting up a station with bug spray, sunscreen, cozy blankets, or anything else that will help keep guests comfortable outside all day. Let guests know about rough terrain so they can dress appropriately.
Keep Decor Simple
Wind, fire restrictions, and uneven ground can make elaborate setups tricky. Opt for sturdy, nature-inspired decor.
Communicate clearly
Provide guests with detailed info on what to expect, from parking and cell service to packing lists for their stay.
Do Not Feed the Wildlife
Chipmunks, squirrels, foxes, and other wildlife are often present at Windy Point and are very used to people. However tempting it might be, it is important not to feed or pet the wildlife, even if they come up to you.
Prepare for High Altitude
Windy Point is located at 9,000 foot elevation, so it is important to keep in mind how you and your guests react to high altitude, especially if coming from sea level. Be sure to give yourself plenty of time to acclimate and consider staying somewhere lower (like Denver) for a night or two before heading up to Breckenridge.
The best way to avoid altitude sickness once in the mountains is to make sure you’re staying hydrated. You’ll likely need to drink more water than you think! You’ll also want to make sure everyone wears sunscreen (even during the winter and on cloudy days) since the air is thinner and the sun’s rays are harsher at high altitudes.

Decide if you’d like to bring your pup
Windy Point is a dog-friendly location, so feel free to bring along your four-legged friend! Be sure to keep them on a leash and clean up after them.
Plan for changing weather
There’s an old saying in Colorado that if you don’t like the weather, just wait five minutes. This is especially true in the mountains! Because weather can be unpredictable and Windy Point has limited shelter, it is important to consider having a backup plan in case the weather causes any issues. For early summer or fall elopements, consider ending before sunset or renting outdoor heaters, as it can get quite chilly in the evenings.
Don’t Forget Your Marriage License
In order to get legally married in Colorado, you will need to apply for a marriage license. The nearest place to do so is at the Summit County Clerk and Recorder’s Office in Breckenridge, but you can go to any county in Colorado!
