However, if you’re planning an indoor wedding or prefer the quieter off-season months, winter and spring are lovely options, too.

Top Tips for Your YMCA of the Rockies Wedding

Book Early
YMCA of the Rockies wedding venues can fill up quickly, especially during peak seasons. We recommend securing your spot as early as possible to ensure you get your ideal venue and date.
Prepare for the Weather
Mountain weather can be unpredictable, so have a backup plan if you’re planning an outdoor ceremony or reception. Plan on wearing lots of layers, and keep in mind that afternoon thunderstorms are common in the summer months! YMCA of the Rockies does offer an option to book an indoor backup ceremony location if weather is a concern!
Consider Shuttle Service
Limited parking at some of the more popular venues means that a shuttle service or carpooling may be necessary for guests, particularly for outdoor ceremonies.

Take Altitude into Account
YMCA of the Rockies’s elevation is above 8,000 feet. If you’re coming from lower elevations, give yourself at least a day or two to adjust before your ceremony. Staying hydrated, avoiding excessive alcohol, and taking it easy on physical activity can help prevent altitude sickness.
Don’t Forget Sunscreen & Bug Spray
At high altitudes, the sun is stronger, and even on cooler days, you can get sunburned quickly. Sunscreen is a must, especially for longer outdoor ceremonies or photoshoots. In the warmer months, mosquitoes and other bugs can be persistent near meadows and lakes, so having bug spray on hand is a good idea.
