Mama Moose Crashes This Mountain Elopement | Kylee + Eric

Posted On | August 9, 2023

There’s something magical about the morning of an elopement. After months of planning, messaging, and video calls, I finally get to meet two incredible people face-to-face and celebrate one of the most important days of their lives. For Kylee and Eric, that moment felt like reconnecting with old friends. From our very first call, it was clear they weren’t just clients—they were the kind of people who leave a mark on your heart.

Their journey to this day wasn’t without a few twists. After postponing their elopement for a year, we finally hugged each other tight and set off for an unforgettable adventure in Rocky Mountain National Park. It was a day filled with laughter, family, breathtaking scenery—and, unexpectedly, a mama moose with her babies making an unforgettable cameo.

In the middle of their lakeside ceremony at Sprague Lake, a park ranger rushed over with wide eyes and urgent whispers. A mama moose and her two calves were making their way down the trail—directly toward us. There was a moment of quiet chaos as we all braced ourselves for what might happen. But in true mountain magic fashion, the moose family gracefully wandered past, stepping into the water just beyond where we stood. They were calm, majestic, and completely unfazed by the small group of humans committing their love nearby. Once they moved on, Kylee and Eric continued their vows, with the serene lake and three unexpected guests adding an unforgettable layer of beauty to the moment.

Kylee and Eric’s day wasn’t just about the scenery or the surprises—it was about them. They are two of the kindest, most thoughtful people I’ve had the honor to work with. Every detail of their elopement in Estes Park was intentional, focused on the things that matter most to them. Days like this remind me why I love what I do so much. It’s about connection, celebrating love in its purest form, and creating memories that will last a lifetime.

Kylee and Eric, thank you for trusting me to capture your incredible day. I know this won’t be the last time our paths cross, and I’m already looking forward to it.

P.S. Did you know that all of our small wedding and elopement packages include 35mm film photography? There’s just something timeless about the way film captures a moment, and it’s one of my favorite ways to tell your story.
